Gone are the days when one had to beg friends returning from phoren to get back some authentic dips for our lonely chips. With Delhi experiencing a culinary boom, the world is on our platter. Passionate foodpreneurs are whipping up delectable dips in the city. We list down some of the best (and our favourite) places to satiate your chip and dip fix.

Wingreens

Probably the brand that got Delhi hooked on to hummus in such a big way, Wingreens is an initiative by Women’s Initiative Network led by social entrepreneur Anju Srivastava. The brand imparts skill training to rural and semi-rural women and they in turn, produce the best Rosemary Hummus we’ve ever tasted! Their range of dips ranges from the very popular Hummus (available in Olive Oli, Peri Peri and Rosemary variants) to Basil Pesto to Baba Ganoush to Dill Tzatziki to the addictive Garlic Dip. They also have a range of Peanut Butters in Classic, Chocolate and Spicy variants. We love Wingreens for their excellent flavor palatte, a very easy-to-get approach and being so modestly priced.

Where: Order from their website or find them at big gourmet stores- Nature’s Basket, Le Marche, Foodhall, Modern Bazaar and most Fabindia outlets.

Tip: Did we hear someone say Spinach-Kale-Thyme  pita chips to go with our dips?!

Foodhall

The hallowed aisles of Foodhall have garnered loyalty for their range of gourmet dips, indulgent to the core and made fresh in their kitchens.  Try the 5 layer Mexican Dip (the same one with sour cream, cheese and guacamole) or maybe some Kalamata Olive Tapenade. If pesto is your thing, then the Kale Pine Nut flavor will knock your socks off. They also do killer pâtés (choose between Wild Mushroom and Chicken Liver). Their non-vegetarian dips include Salmon Mousse and a drool-inducing Caramelised Onion, Gruyere & Bacon dip.

Special mention to their range of cheese balls – cream cheese mixed with a variety of flavours ranging from Pink Peppercorn & Chives to Wasabi & Nori to Roasted Garlic & Rosemary.  Pair these with their extensive range of plain and flavoured pita crisps and Lavaash.

Where: Foodhall stores in Saket, Vasant Kunj and MG Road, Gurgaon.

Jimmy’s Gourmet Kitchen

Jimmy Dhanak, the man behind Jimmy’s Gourmet Kitchen is celebrated in the city’s food circles for his excellent hummus and nut butters. The idea for the venture came up when Jimmy, originally from Dubai, did not find authentic hummus to soothe his soul. He imported a batch oh tahini from Lebanon and rest is history. Jimmy’s products use only the best ingredients, mostly organic sourced from various farmer’s markets in the city.  We love his take on flavoured hummus- jalepeno, garlic-lime, basil pesto. His venture has been going strong since 5 years and we’re sure there are many more to come. Don’t miss his Chipotle Hummus and Almond Butter.

Where: Order from his website.

Miss Chhotee’s

Miss Chhotee’s started off as a home-based operation back in 2012 and has been going strong since. Shradha Aggarwal, aka Miss Chhotee has a range of dips designed for entertaining. Her repertoire includes a delicious Curry Mayonnaise, Black Olive Tapenade, Peri Peri Hummus, Basil Pesto and lovely Kumquats-filled Narangi Dressing. Add to this her signature Kale chips and let the good times begin.

Where: Check out their website or order by writing at info@misschhotees.com

P.S: Their packaging won awards at Kyoorius Design Yatra.
